A local body corporate came to us looking for a custom CCTV solution. They were having problems with rubbish dumping, vandalism and tampering with the vehicle access gate. The body corporate was spending a large amount of money each year on contractors to rectify these issues. They needed a system which could be self-managed to identify offenders and re-cooperate costs.
The solution was a CCTV system, however the challenge was providing remote access without an internet connection available on the property. We custom built this CCTV system with an industrial 3G/4G/Wi-Fi router, mounted inside a lockable enclosure. The router provides a public internet connection using a M2M SIM card via the Telstra mobile network. An external M2M 3G/4G/Wi-Fi dome antenna is mounted on-top of the box to provide a reliable Telstra signal.
By configuring a DDNS and VPN we can provide our client with remote administration and system monitoring. It sounds complicated but for the end user they simply open an application from a smart phone or computer to access the CCTV system.
We think this system has huge potential for use on construction sites, remote sites and fast deployment temporary installations. Additional options are also available such as 2-way talk via an external speaker or can even be solar powered.
